Production
Jean-Louis Chave Saint-Joseph Blanc "Circa" is a northern Rhône white from Saint-Joseph, made from Roussanne grown on the granitic slopes of Mauves. The wine shows the richer, more textural side of the appellation, with pear, quince, apricot, acacia, almond, honeyed notes, and a fine mineral line. Roussanne gives the wine perfume, breadth, and supple texture, while the granite soils help bring freshness, structure, and a long, stony finish. It is dry and full-flavoured, but balanced by tension and savoury detail.
Tasting notes
Medium lemon in colour. Aromas of pear, quince, apricot, acacia flower, almond, honeycomb, and wet stone. The palate is dry and medium to full-bodied, with ripe orchard and stone fruit, rounded texture, moderate acidity, savoury depth, and a long mineral finish.
